In 2018, the Humane Society of the United States released footage from an undercover investigation at a lab in Michigan that performed tests on thousands of dogs every year. Many of the dogs underwent pesticide tests, which involved poisoning them every day with pesticides. These tests were paired with the horrible living conditions and treatment that are inherent to keeping animals in a lab environment.

As a result of this undercover footage, the Humane Society was able to get 32 dogs released and placed in forever homes. These pups got names instead of numbers, beds instead of cages, and treats instead of chemicals. In other words, they were finally treated like dogs instead of test subjects. They finally had the chance to play and run around. Most of all, they finally got the love and care that they deserved.
