What’s that creature? Looks like this cat finally noticed the new baby in the house! He seems pretty interested at first, then gives the old “sniff and sneer” and turns to look out a sunny window.

A baby in the house can be stressful for a cat — he has to get used to all these different smells and (non-cat) toys, possibly less attention, and a constant stream of visitors charging through the house to meet the new human. But a responsible owner can take steps to make sure the transition is smooth for all.

The cat in this video seems a bit bemused, but far from traumatized. We hope he’ll warm up to the baby eventually and be able to make friends, but in any case, the baby will benefit from having a cat around the house — early exposure to pets strengthens the immune system which protects against harmful viruses and bacteria later on.
