The long-abusive Miami Seaquarium has finally shut down — a major win for animal advocates who spent decades exposing the cruelty behind its glossy marketing. For 70 years, the park profited from confining orcas and other marine animals in tiny enclosures where they suffered physically and emotionally. Now it’s time for SeaWorld to follow. Sign the petition now to demand the closure of all SeaWorld locations and the transfer of every animal to a sanctuary.

Miami Seaquarium’s history is well-documented: Hugo died of a brain aneurysm after years of smashing his head against the tank walls; Lolita spent more than five decades in a shallow pool, most of them alone, before dying in captivity. Research has repeatedly shown that marine mammals endure immense distress in confinement, unable to swim, forage, or socialize naturally. In 2025, we no longer have any excuse for keeping them imprisoned.

SeaWorld must end this outdated, harmful model and commit to sanctuary-based care. Sign the petition now to push SeaWorld toward a humane future.
