Hope for Paws, an animal rescue organization based in Los Angeles, Ca., has carried out many amazing rescue and rehabilitation operations over the years, including that of Cadence the Pit Bull, senior dog Rudolph, and four starving pooches who were rescued from the Mojave Desert last year. And the incredible team has just pulled off their magic again, by successfully removing two poodles named Cola and Pepsi from under the I-5 freeway and giving them the love, care and respect they so richly deserve. The seven-minute video above details exactly how they did it.
Hope for Paws founder Eldad Hagar received a call about Cola and Pepsi at around 10p.m., but that didn’t stop him from immediately dashing out to help them! When he arrived at the rescue location, he knew that he would need some extra help to accomplish the job, so called upon his friend Vanessa Enriquez to join him the following morning.
At first, the two dogs were terrified by the appearance of these strange new humans and cuddled one another for comfort and protection.

Eldad and Vanessa had to gradually coax the dogs to their side…

… reassuring them that they were only there to help.

Once Cola and Pepsi had been safely removed from the tunnel, Eldad “rushed them to the hospital to get cleaned up, and get medical treatment. A couple of days later, the family who told me about them came for a visit, and two days after that they continued to their foster home with Maltese Rescue California.”
The family in question – Beverly, Dave, Nia, Talisa, and Zenét – were thrilled to see the dogs looking so much better.

Cola and Pepsi have settled in well at their new foster home…

… and have a whole lot of love to give!

Let’s hope they find the loving forever home they need very soon.

What an amazing story! To help Hope for Paws continue with their life-saving work, why not make a donation today? You can apply to adopt Cola and Pepsi here (note that because of their close bond, the two will only be adopted out together).
