Meet Layla, the rescued sun bear cub happily enjoying her new digs at Animals Asia’s Vietnam Bear Rescue Center. In Asia, sun bears are targeted by poachers for their paws and bile. As ridiculous as it may sound to a Western audience, bear paw soup is considered a delicacy and bear bile is thought to have medicinal qualities. For this reason, sun bears have been labeled as vulnerable for extinction.
Sun bears are the smallest species of bear and as you can see from this video, they are also outrageously adorable. Layla is a lucky little sun bear, rescued from poachers with the help of Animals Asia. She now resides at the Vietnam Bear Rescue center where she is safe from poachers and free to enjoy all the toys and love she receives from Animals Asia staff.
Just watching Layla get so excited over her new toys is enough to melt anyone’s heart. While it is a shame she can’t live just as happily in the wild, she has certainly found a happy place here at the Vietnam Bear Rescue Center.

I am happy that she is safe from the bear bile trade but she seems so lonely. She\’s a baby and needs some affection.
It would be truly wonderful if you can get her a friend and create more natural bigger environment so she can be happy even after she grows up into a grown up bear… She is BEAUTIFUL, I am clueless how can people think anything from a bear can heal anything – SICK… Maybe they should become VEGAN & then they will have no problems with their erections and such… SAD.
She is one lucky moon bear!
