George and Amal Clooney Donate $10k to Help Dogs Dumped in the Desert by a Cruel Breeder

We have some awesome news for you! George and Amal Clooney have donated $10,000 to nine dogs rescued from a Mojave Desert backyard breeder. These dogs were saved by a Sherman Oaks, California organization by the name of Camp Cocker Rescue, and they are over the moon with joy because of this donation.

Camp Cocker Rescue wrote on their Facebook page, “Some generous donors of ours heard about the plight of the nine new dogs we just took in from the backyard breeder and they wanted to lend a paw. The medical bills and medical to do list is getting longer by the day (today we learned that another one of these dogs will need an ear ablation surgery).” The dogs in question had been heartlessly dumped in the desert by their breeder and when they were discovered by the rescue organization, they were in desperate need of care and attention. Proving medical care and shelter for these rescued dogs is no small task and Camp Cocker relies heavily on donations. They share that their average donations are around $5-25, all of which makes a difference in their ability to help pups – but seeing a donation like $10,000 completely knocked their socks off … but that’s not where the good news ended. For the month of May, the Clooneys have said they will match every donation made to Camp Cocker, up to $10,000!

Camp Cocker said, “After we all did happy dances and cried with happiness for this unbelievable matching donation offer – we then asked the donors if (and only if they gave us their permission) . . . if we could reveal their names to our supporters in order to help us reach our big goal this month.” And the Clooney’s graciously agreed!

The Clooneys are no strangers to saving rescue dogs, as they recently gifted a rescued terrier to George’s parents for Christmas. George has also often expressed his adoration for Max, the pet pig who was his companion for eighteen years.

We love when celebrities use their fame and resources to create positive change, and we hope others take a cue from the Clooneys and contribute to animal welfare causes as they have.
