You’d never know it by the smile on her face, but little, happy Chi Chi, has lived survived unthinkable abuse in South Korea’s dog meat industry. Rescuers believe her legs were bound together as she was hung upside down day in and day out in the meat facility, near where she was discovered. Her legs were so infected from the wounds, that her flesh rotted off her bones, making her an undesirable “product.” Rescuers found her in a trash bag, barely breathing and in grave condition. Her injuries were so severe that when veterinarians finally got to her, all four of her paws needed to be amputated.
Despite of her difficulties, Chi Chi’s will to survive never faltered. She may not have her paws, but as you can see in the video above, nothing can slow down this energetic, playful girl. This little cutie is now living an incredible life with her new family in Arizona, and her guardians plan to certify Chi Chi as a therapy dog so she can visit amputee patients. In the meantime, she is being fitted for prosthetics and rehabilitation is helping her to walk again.
Chi Chi is a true testament of what it means to be a survivor and teaches us all to never give up hope, no matter what challenges life throws at us. Want to help dogs like
