Starting this weekend, Friday 17th and running through August 26th, Baltimore will be celebrating their 3rd city-wide Vegan Restaurant Week! The first event occurred in August of 2017 and hosted over 40 participating restaurants, followed by a winter edition called “Vegan Restaurant Week: Veganism is for Lovers” in February, which, according to Maryland Vegan Eats, “challenged restaurants to demonstrate their love and compassion for promoting healthier diets, reducing animal cruelty and saving the environment by offering tasty and creative vegan options on their menus.” You may not be able to make it to the event itself, but we’ve pulled together some recipes from our Food Monster App  from the restaurants that will be in attendance.

This August brings a brand new event called “Vegan Restaurant Week: Summer Love.” Restaurants can sign up for the event at mdveganeats.com for $159, the entirety of which goes to marketing and promotion for the event.

The mission of Baltimore Vegan Week is “to increase the awareness, benefits, and accessibility of a plant-based diet through a fun, innovative and community-based experience across multiple neighborhoods,” says Maryland Vegan Eats. The event features the 5th annual Vegan Soulfest, special events like Meatless Monday, Vegan Drinks, and Donuts After Dark.

The 20 participating restaurants will each offer a special menu with a minimum of two vegan dishes, though according to The Baltimore Sun and a statement by event co-founder Naijha Wright-Brown, many of the locations will be offering more than that. In an additional statement to The Baltimore Sun by Wright-Brown, she stated that the community Support has shown restaurants that people, even non-vegans, are interested in the benefits of plant-based eating. Sponsors of the event include A Well-Fed World, the Restaurant Association of MarylandYelp, and many more.

If you’re in Baltimore next week, make sure to check it out, and go to mdveganeats.com for more information on dates and times, events, participating restaurants, and locations!
