Master Julian, the pig, had a bit of a rough start in life. Like many pigs, he was deemed a “food animal” and was destined for a short life ending in death like so many pigs before him. In fact, the piglet was literally on his way to the slaughterhouse when Cat, the founder of Vietnam Animal Aid and Rescue, stepped in and saved him.

Now, Julian’s life could not be more different. Not only does Cat consider the lovable boy her best friend, but her cats and the other animals at the rescue center have also taken to him quite well. One cat in particular, Chairman Meow, has become extremely attached to Julian. Having grown up together, these two are practically attached at the hip! They cuddle, they play, they sit in the mud together … they’re BFFs!

Julian is now Vietnam Animal Aid’s unofficial mascot, and we gotta say, he’s perfect for the job. His adorable and sweet nature is proof that pigs are not the non-feeling animals we paint them to be. They are smart, affectionate, and sentient beings who deserve more than a horrible life with a cruel ending. We hope one day more pigs will get to have a similarly sweet life!
