In an act of complete selfishness and materialism, spikes have been attached to trees in a wealthy neighborhood in Bristol, UK. For what you ask? To protect rich people’s cars from bird droppings. The Care2 team has started a petition asking the Bristol City Council to remove the spikes and inform the residents that it is not ok to punish innocent animals for such frivolous purposes.
Why should the birds be punished when there are numerous other ways to keep their cars clean? They could use a car cover, not park underneath a tree, or stop being lazy and just clean it off. Regardless, these spikes are preventing birds from being able to do anything, which is a complete disrespect to nature. Additionally, this affects other tree-dwelling animals like squirrels.
Humans have already taken over habitats and pushed animals to the brink of extinction. Sign the petition to show that adding dangerous spikes to trees is not only unnecessary but downright cruel!
