Just a few weeks ago Harper, a precious pit bull pup was so deformed that she was stuffed into a trash bag to be thrown away. Luckily, a woman (Erica Daniel) noticed a man outside a Save-A-Lot selling pit-bull puppies for $50 and heard a noise coming from a garbage bag he was holding. When he opened the bag, she was shocked to see a tiny puppy that was so afflicted by a condition called precuts excavatum (or “swimmer puppy disorder”) that she could barely stand.
Ms. Daniel took the puppy to a nearby shelter, where vets concluded that she should be put to sleep. Daniel agreed, but decided to take her home to give her one night of affection before she was euthanized.
However, to her surprise, when she began massaging Harper’s limbs, she soon began to improve. Instead of putting Harper down, Daniel had a vet perform a closer inspection, only to find that the pup was indeed far healthier than first thought. Since then, Harper has received massage therapy and hydrotherapy. Now, only 11 weeks later, she’s walking on her own four feet.
