Artists have a wonderful talent for illustrating the flaws in our society. This particular artist, Gregory Kloehn, is going one step further by helping to find a solution for one of society’s largest issues: homelessness. Kloehn was inspired to make homes for the homeless population in his area by the small house trend.
Building homes that are small, but highly efficient is one method that environmentalists and nature lovers have used to limit their personal footprint on the planet. Kloehn saw these small homes and was inspired to transform the trend to help out the world’s homeless population. Using scrap materials such as shipping containers, dumpsters, and discarded trash he finds on the streets, Kloehn crafts small homes and gives them away to those in need.
Not only is Kloehn helping to provide shelter for people who really need it, but he is also helping to recycle tons of materials that would have otherwise been thrown away. A win all around! Kloehn believes that when you improve the lives of those in need, we all benefit. We could not agree more!
