3 Natural Face Masks and Scrubs You Can Make Right Now for Amazing Results!

Why spend money on store-bought face masks and scrubs when you can whip up your own at home using simple, all-natural ingredients? Think sugar, lemon juice, raw agave, avocado, and turmeric—deliciously wholesome ingredients that your skin will love! Here are some of our favorite plant-based beauty treatments, inspired by the blog Rawkin It Vegan Style.

1. Lemon Sugar Scrub

This scrub is pure love for your skin! I use it a couple of times a week, and the results are nothing short of amazing. My skin feels soft, smooth, and glowing, with a noticeable brightness. So, what’s the secret? This simple scrub is made with just two ingredients: sugar (ideally organic, non-white sugar) and lemon juice.

The sugar exfoliates while acting as a humectant, drawing moisture from the air and sealing it into your skin. Meanwhile, lemon juice, packed with vitamin C, helps to exfoliate with its citric acid and brighten any discoloration, age spots, or fine lines.

Ingredients:

  • Fine organic sugar
  • Lemon juice (enough to make a thick paste)

Method: In a bowl, mix the sugar and lemon juice until you achieve a thick paste. Gently scrub your damp face for a minute or two. It might feel a bit rough, but trust me—the results are worth it! Don’t forget to scrub your lips too; it’ll taste like lemonade! Rinse your face and pat dry. You’ll be left with rosy, soft, and glowing skin. You’re gorgeous, darling!

2. Raw Cacao Face Mask

Caffeine is a skin’s best friend, especially when it comes from raw cacao! The caffeine tightens your skin, and cacao is rich in skin-loving antioxidants. This mask also includes ground oats, lemon juice, and agave. The oats gently exfoliate, while the lemon provides vitamin C and citric acid. The agave serves as a great moisturizer, holding all the ingredients together.

Ingredients:

  • Raw cacao powder
  • Organic oats, ground in a blender or coffee grinder
  • Lemon juice
  • Raw agave

Method: In a bowl, combine equal parts cacao powder and ground oats. Mix in the juice of half a lemon and enough agave to create a paste. Apply to a clean face, scrubbing gently over all areas, including your neck. Now, kick back and relax for about 20 minutes—sip on some tea, meditate, and try not to lick your face! When the mask has dried, wash it off. Your skin will feel tight, glowing, and radiant. Don’t forget to apply your favorite moisturizer afterward (mine is Extra Virgin Coconut Oil)!

3. Avocado Mask

Perfect for dry skin, this mask is packed with healthy fats and Omega fatty acids from avocado, which work wonders for hydration. The orange juice adds citric acid for exfoliation, while Extra Virgin Olive Oil provides additional moisture. Turmeric offers anti-inflammatory benefits, making this mask a powerhouse for your skin.

Ingredients:

  • 1 ripe avocado, mashed
  • A good squeeze of orange juice (about 6-7 drops)
  • A pinch of turmeric
  • 1 Tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Method: In a bowl, mix the mashed avocado with orange juice, turmeric, and olive oil. Apply the mixture to your face and neck, then lie down and relax for 15-20 minutes. Rinse off with lukewarm water, and enjoy your beautiful skin!

4. Cucumber Mask

This recipe is as easy as it gets. Simply grate a cucumber and smooth it over clean skin. Place a warm, damp towel over your face (and the cucumber mask) and relax for 20-30 minutes. Rinse off with lukewarm water.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cucumber, grated
  • 1 warm, damp towel

Method: Apply the grated cucumber to your face and neck. Relax with the warm towel over your face, and rinse off afterward. Don’t forget to sip on some cucumber juice while you pamper yourself! Cucumbers are refreshing, alkaline, and packed with beautifying silicon and chlorophyll.

5. Banana Mask

Oh, bananas—nature’s perfect fruit! Rich in potassium, bananas are fantastic for dry skin. They’re loaded with vitamin C and biotin, essential for healthy skin, hair, and nails.

Ingredients:

  • 1 very ripe banana
  • 2 Tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Method: Mash the banana and olive oil together in a bowl. Apply the mixture to your clean face; it may be a bit gloopy! You can choose to cover your banana face with paper or tissue, then top it with a warm, damp towel, or simply relax on the couch with your banana mask for 15-20 minutes. Once you’re ready, rinse your face with lukewarm water and moisturize with your favorite product (Extra Virgin Coconut Oil is mine!).
