California farms have reportedly used an average of two point five million pounds of PFAS each year on food crops. These forever chemicals are linked by research to cancer, immune disorders, thyroid issues, and serious kidney and liver conditions. Over six years, farms applied roughly fifteen million pounds, largely because many pesticides approved for food still contain PFAS. Sign the petition now to demand an immediate ban on these toxic compounds.
Around sixty percent of active ingredients in common pesticides qualify as PFAS. Water intensive produce like grapes, tomatoes, alfalfa, almonds, and pistachios can absorb even more of these chemicals. Families and children then eat these residues without knowing the risks. The European Union has already begun to restrict PFAS in pesticides and is considering a full phase out. California, as the nation’s largest agricultural producer, must do the same. Add your voice and sign the petition now.
