Several California families trusted a popular pet-sitting app while traveling for the holidays. Their dogs never came home. Instead, multiple pets were returned gravely ill, allegedly neglected, or died shortly after being taken to emergency clinics. What should have been routine care became a devastating loss.

One dog was reportedly returned covered in urine or vomit and rushed to a veterinarian. Another became unresponsive days before Christmas and later died from dehydration. A third collapsed, showed signs of internal distress, and died soon after. The sitter had been approved by the platform, leaving families blindsided. Only later did reports surface suggesting other dogs may have suffered under the same care.

These dogs were family. Deactivating an account after deaths occur is not protection. Companies that profit from pet care must do more.
