Imagine opening up a cardboard box and finding a baby pig inside – an adorable, scared, and hungry piglet. This is exactly how Sophie the pig found her forever family. Though her mommies did not have plans on adopting an animal – and certainly not a pig, Sophie had other plans in mind. After all, who can resist that sweet face, spotty little body, and baby oinks!

However, that wasn’t the only reason these compassionate ladies kept Sophie. Turns out, Sophie’s back legs didn’t work, so she needed a home right away that could care for her special needs. From that day on, Sophie started eating and never looked back!

Sophie’s story is one that teaches others to never give up- no matter how many times you fall down. Get back up and keep going! This pig certainly didn’t let her disability get the best of her. Sophie’s parents report that she loves roaming about, kisses, belly rubs, and of course … eating.

Sadly, many people don’t view pigs as compassionately as Sophie’s guardians and these animals are subjected to horrific lives in factory farms. To help more pigs live the lives they all deserve, support farm sanctuaries and organizations like Farm Animal Rights Movement (FARM). To learn more click here.
