They say friendships come in all shapes and sizes. Well, that certainly is true when it comes to this unbelievably sweet animal pair. Now, this isn’t just any friendship, it’s an interspecies friendship between a dog and a duck! There is no way to watch these two playing, running, and rolling around and not be moved. They seem to not have a care in the world, except for each other!
While the circumstances of how this adorable pair hit it off are unknown, what is really important here is what we do know and what can we learn from such an incredible display of friendship. There is a quote that says, “Friendship isn’t about who you’ve known the longest but rather who walked into your life and said ‘I’m here for you,’ and proved it.” It seems these two know all about being there for each other and have become the best of friends! It’s so hilarious seeing them chase, cuddle, and even annoy each other!
For many people, the concept of interspecies friendships may seem unusual but it actually is more common than you think. This applies for animals both raised domestically and even in the wild. For some animals, it comes naturally if they are raised together and have not been taught about predators or sticking with their own species like they would have been taught in the wild, like in the case of rescues. Others form a parent-child relationship with other species they spend a significant amount of time with, especially if they have been abandoned or orphaned. In the wild, animals can form these types of bonds when they are not accepted or have been separated from their own pride or packs. This leads them to form friendships outside of their network.
However interspecies friendships form, one thing is clear, unexpected friendships are the best ones!

Is that a shock collar on the dog and does the man in the video have controls to it in his hands? This makes me wonder if this is a \’staged\’ video. I hope not!
