It’s no secret that elephants are in a dangerous position right now. According to International Fund for Animal Welfare, one elephant is killed for its ivory tusks every 15 minutes. Combine the dwindling elephant population with the fact that elephants laugh, grieve, and feel emotions similarly to humans, and you have all the evidence you need to mount an all-out offensive against elephant poaching … right?

Well, despite the efforts of conservation organizations and motivated individuals, elephant populations are still teetering in the balance. While there have definitely been quite a few victories in recent years, some scientists predict the current rate of poaching could cause elephants to go extinct in the next few decades.

It’s easy to lose sight of the light at the end of the tunnel when dealing with a complex issue like this which is what makes this short video so important. Seeing this happy, carefree herd of elephants – even for four seconds – is enough to remind us WHY the fight is worth it.

If we all worked to raise awareness and could stop others from unknowingly buying into things that cause elephants harm, we could see the day where sights like this video are commonplace.

There’s still a lot to be done Green Monsters, but with a lot of heart and determination, we’ll get there!
