After being hit by a truck, a street dog, named Barry, was found completely motionless. It was later discovered that he had been paralyzed from the waist down. Thankfully Save Our Street Dogs was able to rescue the poor pup and took him to the vet for care. It was discovered that his spine may have been severed … or in other words, there would be nothing that modern veterinary care could do to help the dog recover.
Though his pelvis had been ultimately crushed, it took him a mere two days to begin wagging his tail, sitting up, and – despite all odds –stand on his own. He may walk with a bit of a limp in his back legs, but he did not lose all function in his back legs.
Once he was given the final “all-clear” he was discharged to a foster home! Barry was able to make his final steps towards recovery thanks to the kind human who was constantly present to give him lots of ear scratches, treats, and love.
A beautiful pup, can they not operate on the right leg ?
Brought me to tears as brought back sad memories of my paralysed dog and the surgery & rehab he went through….. Unfortunately Indie didn’t make it. Barry has healed so well, I only hope more find it in their hearts to adopt and rescue til no dog is homeless.
