Warning: The beginning of this video is not for the faint of heart.
At first glance, it looked like it was already too late. In this video, posted by Animal Aid Unlimited, India, rescuers arrive on a grisly scene: A street dog with her head snapped back, laying in a pool of her own blood. Her neck appeared broken, but upon a closer look, the team found the animal was still breathing. Upon inspection, the animal was shown to have suffered a severe head injury. The dog, now named ‘Jellybean’ was treated for brain swelling by her rescuers, and despite all odds, survives!
At 0:15, the responder realizes the dog is still breathing and gently scoops her into his arms. At 0:40, we see the animal slipping in and out of consciousness, not knowing if the next time she went to sleep would be her last. At 0:50, her inspection and rehabilitation begin. At 1:21, after five days, she still can’t stand on her own, but the real hope begins at 1:32, when the injured animal is finally able to eat on her own. At 1:51, we see Jellybean now, as a happy, healthy pup who has (hopefully) put past trauma behind her.
While it’s impossible to say for sure, Jellybean’s odds of survival would have been infinitesimal without the humans who helped her. None of her care and recovery would have been possible without the workers of Animal Aid Unlimited, India, who rely on donations to Support their rescue of strays in India. Videos like this just go to show that there’s always hope, no matter how grim a situation may seem.
