Little Oliver, a calf of a rescued dairy cow, is the perfect example of what it means for a baby to have his mom around. His mother, Betsy Moo, used to be a dairy cow before she was rescued and found her home at the Lighthouse Farm Sanctuary in Oregon. She arrived at the sanctuary after she had been listed on Craigslist, at the time of rescue, she was pregnant and soon – sooner than had been predicted by the vets – she gave birth to the little calf who was named Oliver.
Recently, Oliver had a chance to enjoy his very first full day outside – together with his mom. As you can see in the video above, the calf spent his time prancing around on the grass, soaking in the sunshine, and having a taste of what a happy life lies ahead of him! The baby was even fascinated by the camera and he didn’t fail to inspect it. A bright future also awaits Betsy Moo – the cow finally knows how happy and safe life can actually be. Liberated from the dairy industry, she will have a chance to live to the full span of a cow’s life, up to twenty-five years – a number very different from the typical lifespan of a dairy cow.
Together, Betsy Moo and little Oliver are a wonderful sight – it’s enough to look at these two to see how crucial the bond between the mother and her child is for these animals.
In the dairy industry, cows are artificially inseminated in order to give birth so that they will produce milk – which is then used for human consumption. The calves are taken away from their mothers and again used as dairy cows or veal calves. This, obviously, does not leave the animals indifferent but is severely traumatic to the mothers. Thankfully, there are kind people who recognize the bond between mama cows and their babies and they are working to show the world a different side of cows. Thanks to Lighthouse Farm Sanctuary, Betsy Moo and Oliver will live out their days surrounded by nothing but love and happiness! Isn’t this the life all animals deserve?

The fact that these people KNOW NOTHING ABOUT ANIMALS OR THE PROPER TERMINOLOGY FOR THEM should be an obvious reason WHY THIS WEBSITE IS TOTALLY UNRELIABLE ABOUT ITS FACTS AND NOT WORTH YOUR TIME!!!!!
It is the epitome of "fake news." If they don\’t know that a cow is a female bovine (cattle) and this young animal is a bull calf, HOW IS IT POSSIBLE FOR ANYONE TO TAKE THEM SERIOUSLY AND INCLUDE VERIFIABLE FACTS IN THE REST OF THEIR ARTICLES?????? This isn\’t a mistake that they\’ve made one or two times. They make it all the time. The only reason they ever actually discuss a cow and get it right is when the animal is actually a female bovine.
ARE YOU ACTUALLY WILLING TO WASTE YOUR TIME READING THE INACCURATE GARBAGE THEY PUT HERE????? They are just trying to hook you by getting it wrong, wrong, wrong EVERY SINGLE TIME so you\’ll comment about the fact that they didn\’t get it right.
IGNORE THEM FROM NOW ON AND MOVE ON TO WEBSITES THAT DON\’T HAVE TO STOOP TO FAKE NEWS AND "ALTERNATIVE FACTS" TO GET YOU TO READ THE MALARKY THEY USUALLY RUN.
Once again One Green Planet shows either ignorance or contempt (?) for the gender of bovine animals. I have no doubt that you would like your readers to become apt activists to defend animals and the cause of veganism, but are we going to achieve this is we don\’t even seem to know that cows are female animals? Why didn\’t you call the young bovine a calf – which it is – rather than a cow, an adult female?
They do it to snag people like you into making a comment. It\’s like having a sensational headline to get you to read.
You should just ignore them and move on. They aren\’t worth your time or effort. If they can\’t get this sort of thing right, I mean if they\’re truly THAT IGNORANT, then what else have they gotten wrong?
Frankly, I\’ve seen other things in their copy that shows they are just there to sway you. They RARELY give actual facts–like that picture of the emaciated polar bear which should convince you that global warming is a reality. I believe in global warming, but not because of one picture taken out of context. They claim that bear died due to global warming, without presenting any facts as to if he/she was captured and a post mortem done. You can\’t just look at a photo and tell what some animals is suffering from or died from. Some animals get sick or age takes its toll and they die. Stuff like that.
Not worth your time. Tell others! Shut them down.
Um, they do call him a calf…."Little Oliver, a calf of a rescued dairy cow," READING COMPRHENSION means a lot.
