Dog rescued from highway? Yeah, we’ve seen that before. Sheep saved from a life in the farming industry? Yup! Seen that, too! A squirrel rescued from drowning by a friendly river boarder? Wait … what?
After becoming stuck on a rock, in the middle of a dangerously fast-paced river in Ottawa, Canada, this little squirrel was placed at risk of drowning. At least, that was before Thomas Paterson, a “river boarder” as sport participants are called, noticed the little guy stranded on the boulder.
At one point, Paterson tries to grab the squirrel in an attempt to return him or her to safety, but the squirrel gets scared and makes a jump for it. Unfortunately, his hops proved to be rather unimpressive as he ends up in the rapids instead. Not giving up, Paterson snags the squirrel from the water and offers a quick ride on his board to safety. Talk about a close call!
