Life for stray cats varies vastly from life for beloved housecats. On the street, stray cats have to fend for themselves, often turning to dumpsters and garbage cans for their primary source of food. In addition to struggling to find food and water, these animals have to deal with human interactions. Some people are not so keen to have a colony of feral cats running around their neighborhood and act out maliciously towards these animals. Considering a single female cat can give birth around four times a year, homeless cat populations can easily grow out of control, causing further issues for these animals.
Thankfully, kind people like Fay and Dionisis, the couple in this video, exist to help care for these feral populations. This amazing couple started caring for the stray cats in their neighborhood after they adopted their dog, Meli. When out for walks with their pup, they would stop and leave food for the local cats, eventually this developed into a full-fledged operation and the couple became responsible for feeding, neutering/spaying, and vetting the kitties as well.
It’s incredible to see how one simple act, adopting Meli, has blossomed into hundreds of others. There is no denying that these people have made a massive difference for animals in their neighborhood. We can only hope their story inspires others to take up similar action in their own neighborhoods!
