Organic Baby Foods

There are a lot of things to consider when you make the decision to have a baby, and among the most important of all considerations are those regarding food and nutrition. From birth and infancy, to childhood and adolescence, food plays a vital role in the development of a child. So what can you do, once your baby is weaned, if you decide that you want to feed them largely a plant-based diet? Do you have options outside of your own kitchen? Fortunately, the answer is yes!

Fruits, vegetables and cereals are the first foods commonly fed to infants. These foods are naturally animal-friendly, and abundant in vitamins, minerals and proteins; providing the nutritional building blocks required for healthy developing bodies. Whether it’s a vegan, flexitarian, or any other kind of diet you’re planning, the most important thing to focus on is educating yourself about the nutritional needs of your child, and ensuring that those needs are being met.

Choosing organic foods is a great way to fulfill both of these requirements. Organic foods are grown without chemical pesticides or herbicides, which is best for both the health of your child, and the planet in which you are raising them. They reduce much of the environmental damage associated with conventional growing methods, and allow you to limit your child’s exposure to potentially harmful chemical residues. You can, of course, make your own baby food at home using organic fruits, vegetables, grains and legumes. However, it’s sometimes helpful to have pre-packed options on hand when you’re in a hurry, or haven’t had time to cook meals in advance. But you don’t need to search long and hard for organic meals to feed your growing Green Monster- we’ve found 10 fantastic options for you already!
