Cats are known for being cuddly and willing to give you some lovin’. You can put your feet up and lounge on the couch with a book for several hours and guarantee your feline friend will lay on your chest for a good portion of it. We love when our cat babies are in tune with us, but one very special cat has a sense above the rest.
Oscar has a special knack for predicting deaths at a the Steere House Nursing and Rehabilitation Centre in Providence, Rhode Island, which cares for people with severe dementia. The cat rarely spends time with patients aside from those who just have a few hours to live. Over time, the cat has predicted deaths by gravitating toward those who need comfort in their final hours.
The Telegraph reported that Oscar will even scratch on the door to get in if he’s kept outside the room of a dying patient. Dr. Dosa and staff from the nursing center believe so strongly in Oscar’s accuracy that they actually alert family members when the cat jumps onto a bed and lays beside the person in it.
“It’s not like he dawdles,” Dosa wrote. “He’ll slip out for two minutes, grab some kibble and then he’s back at the patient’s side. It’s like he’s literally on a vigil,” Dr Dosa wrote.
Have you ever witnessed an animal whose able to sense when a person is in their final hours?

My late mothers two cats still reside at the facility where she died and they have this sense. It alerts the workers to call in for hospice care.
