Unfortunately, the world is not a very peaceful or safe place for many individuals. From conflict to abuse to exploitation, there is so much cruelty inflicted on both humans and animals. While this can get disheartening and difficult to hear, petitions are a great way to use your voice for good. Just by signing one, you are a part of helping those who are not treated fairly. You can even share them with friends and acquaintances to increase your impact.
Through petitions, we can reach those in power and demand justice for others. They are valuable tools for making positive changes in the world. If you are looking for a way to help animals and humans, here are seven petitions you should sign this week, including Help Ban Kangaroo Leather Products in the US, Hold RFK Jr. Accountable for Decapitating a Whale, and Hold ExxonMobil Accountable for Lying About Plastic Recycling.
We want to thank you for being the change you wish to see in the world and giving a voice to the voiceless.
Every year, two million kangaroos are killed for their leather – more than any other type of mammal in the entire world. All this brutality and slaughter is just so people can sell these dead animals’ skin – in particular, for fashion and sports, and especially for high-end soccer cleats.
While kangaroos aren’t considered an endangered species yet, the large number of kangaroos killed is worrying to many conservationists. Experts are worried that these hunts could push the species closer to extinction.
In many cases, these animals are killed in shocking ways that echo the cruelty seen in notorious hunts of other species worldwide, but on a much larger scale. Reports detail how the kangaroos are subjected to prolonged pain and distress, similar to how seals are massacred.
Please sign this petition to Support the Kangaroo Protection Act and demand that U.S. lawmakers take action to protect these remarkable animals!
Apparently, in 2012, while on vacation with his family near Hyannis Port, Massachusetts, RFK Jr. took it upon himself to decapitate a whale that had been washed ashore using a chainsaw and then kept the head for himself.
Not only is this incredibly troubling, disturbing behavior that shows a true lack of respect for animal life, but it is also a violation of the Marine Mammal Protection Act, and the Endangered Species Act if the whale was endangered, which many are.
Please sign this petition and ask that the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) conduct a thorough investigation into this alleged incident and hold RFK Jr. fully accountable for his mistreatment of wildlife!
In a deeply disturbing incident at a high school in Texas, an educator allegedly instructed students to staple a live cat during a class. This appalling act not only traumatized the animal but also exposed students to cruel behavior under the guise of education.
News reports indicate that the cat was alive and actively resisting as students held it down. The teacher claimed this horrifying incident was meant to be educational. It is hard to imagine the distress experienced by both the cat and the students during this appalling event.
This incident sets a dangerous precedent for what is acceptable in our educational institutions.
Please sign this petition to demand immediate action and long-term change when it comes to handling animals in Texas schools!
On a seemingly ordinary day, a 65-year-old woman entrusted her beloved cocker spaniel, Reba, to a dog groomer in Brooklyn, New York. What should have been a routine bath turned into a horrific nightmare when the groomer used Reba’s collar as a noose, leading to her death.
Reba was in a crate, gasping for air, with a collar so tightly pulled around her neck that her eyes had rolled back in her sockets, and her human could barely fit any fingers between the collar and her dog’s skin. Despite rushing Reba to a veterinary hospital, she succumbed to her injuries inflicted by the groomer’s carelessness.
And this isn’t the first time the dog groomer in question has been linked to an animal’s death. He was arrested back in 2007 on animal cruelty charges due to allegedly abusing a Burmese cat.
Please sign this petition to demand that authorities shut down this pet grooming salon!
A tragic and preventable incident at an Australian wildlife park recently occurred, where a beloved chicken named Betty White was fed to an alligator by a visitor. The poor chicken was “snatched” from her enclosure and eaten in front of horrified families. This bizarre situation highlights a profound lack of public understanding regarding safe and respectful interactions with wildlife.
Please sign this petition to urge authorities to act swiftly to prevent more unnecessary tragedies by educating the public on how to interact with wildlife.
It turns out the oil giant ExxonMobil tricked millions of Americans into thinking that plastic recycling was going to solve our Pollution crisis. Now, Americans are facing the environmental consequences – and California is doing something about it. The state is suing the company for its decades-long misinformation campaign that has led to environmental damage, and for misleading the public and exacerbating the global crisis of plastic Pollution.
Please sign this petition to demand that ExxonMobil provide financial reparations to California and the communities most impacted by its deceptive actions.
In a shocking and reckless move, Microsoft announced plans to restart the notorious Three Mile Island nuclear power station to fuel its growing data centers and AI use. Three Mile Island is infamous for the catastrophic nuclear accident there in 1979 – which was the most severe commercial nuclear disaster in the history of the U.S. and the third worst nuclear accident in the history of the entire world.
This decision not only poses a severe risk to public safety but also highlights a dangerous prioritization of profit over the health and well-being of the community and the environment.
Please sign this petition to demand Microsoft find a safer, eco-friendly alternative instead!
