Southeastern Guide Dogs released a promotional short film last year about the story of Pip, a cute young service dog. The film opens up with Pip arriving at ‘Canine University’ to begin his training to become a service dog. He barely met the height requirement, but was super excited when he was admitted. At first, Pip does not get the hang of things easily and has a hard time.
Pip did not give up easily though. After seeing historical photos of other service dogs, he becomes motivated after learning that one of the former dogs, Ace, was short like him but was the leader of the pack. Things start to turn around, and Pip starts to successfully complete his tasks, but when he was put to the test on exam day, he failed and forced to leave. But then he does something heroic for a blind woman who was in danger. Watch until the end to see the wonderful ending!
Service dogs offer such an amazing contribution to humans in society. Amongst helping the blind, service dogs also work on rescue missions, detect health conditions illnesses, and of course as therapy friends for those in need of comfort. If you or someone you know might need this for yourself, check out How to Certify Your Dog as a Therapy, Search or Rescue Service Dog.
