When it comes to wild animals, many people feel that humans should stand on the sidelines and let nature take its course. We don’t step around ant hills, or help squirrels find acorns, and we probably wouldn’t stop two animals in the midst of a brawl. While it usually is wise to keep a safe distance from wildlife, even if they are in distress, sometimes it’s hard to ignore a situation that is so blatantly in need of human intervention.
Which is why when a baby chipmunk fell out of a tree and had no way of climbing back up to his mother, witnesses felt compelled to contact Animal Aid Unlimited to help the little fella out. After a thorough inspection to make sure the chipmunk had not gotten hurt from his 50-foot fall, the rescue workers created a pulley system of sorts to get to the nest where Mama Chipmunk was frantically crying for her baby. The reunion was successful!
We’re glad that people happened to be around to see the baby chipmunk fall and were able to contact a rescue group quickly. Animal Aid Unlimited may be known most for their courageous work saving stray dogs, but this rescue goes to show they value all animal lives, no matter how small.
