Spiced Turmeric Blondies [Vegan]

Turmeric has been popping up everywhere, and it's no surprise why. An excellent source of antioxidants, Turmeric is also a natural anti-depressant, prevents cancer, and strengthens the immune system. Not to mention it's a unique flavor that pairs well with almost anything! With anise, rosewater, and orange blossom water this amazing turmeric blonde brownie is sure to be unlike anything you've ever had!

Spiced Turmeric Blondies [Vegan]

This Recipe is :

Ingredients

  • 3 cups whole wheat flour
  • 3/4 cup dark muscovado sugar, unrefined
  • 2/3 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 1/2 cups non-dairy milk
  • 1 tablespoon anise, ground
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 3 tablespoons turmeric
  • A small pinch of black pepper, ground
  • 1 tablespoon rosewater
  • 1 tablespoon orange blossom water
  • 2 tablespoons pine nuts, raw

Preparation

  1. In a large bowl, mix wholemeal flour, anise, baking powder, black pepper, and turmeric.
  2. Add olive oil to the mixture and mix well using your hands to help the flour absorb the olive oil.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix the non-dairy milk with sugar until the sugar is completely dissolved.
  4. Add non-dairy milk and sugar mixture, rosewater, and the orange blossom water to the flour mixture, and mix until combined.
  5. Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a baking tray with non-stick baking paper, or lightly grease with olive oil.
  6. Pour the batter in the baking tray and spread evenly with the help of a spatula. Sprinkle the pine nuts on top and bake for 25 minutes.
  7. Allow to cool, divide in equal portions, and serve.
