Plenty of fast food restaurants are beginning to offer meatless and plant-based options. Burger King introduced a Whopper made with the vegan Impossible patty, KFC tested vegan fried chicken made by Beyond Meat, and McDonald’s even launched a vegan happy meal in the U.K. But it’s still not so common to find completely plant-based casual eating places that serve “fast food” classics.
Of the few fully plant-based places like this is Veggie Grill, one of the most popular vegan restaurants for eating out. In fact, it’s the largest 100% plant-based, premium fast casual brand in the country. Although they have 36 locations, they’ve never had one in New York City… until now! On Friday, December 13th Veggie Grill opens their 37th location and first ever in New York City!
The new Veggie Grill will be located at 12 W. 23rd St in the Flatiron District. Their menu will include signature Veggie Grill items such as burgers, sandwiches, tacos, entrée salads, bowls and more. There will also be customer favorites like VG Beyond Burger, Santa Fe Crispy Chickin’ sandwich, Rustic Farm Bowl and the Mediterranean Supergreens Salad along with the restaurant’s seasonal menu.
Veggie Grill will give New Yorkers the chance to not just eat vegan, but eat with the seasons. They innovate the menu four times a year with seasonal celebrations, which means customers can hope for fresh produce all year long!

The restaurant will have solo, communal, and intimate tables. There will also be kiosks for ordering that guide customers step by step on ordering the right meal for them. It will be open seven days a week from 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Monday through Friday, 11:00 am to 10:00 pm on Saturday, and 11:00 am to 9:00 pm on Sunday.
To celebrate, profits from the opening day will be donated to GrowNYC, an organization aiming to improve New Yorkers’ quality of life through environmental programs.
