New Yorkers, we have exciting news for you. You now have the option to end (or start off) your grocery shopping excursions with a vegan boozy milkshake or two, provided you’re of the legal drinking age.
While many Whole Foods Market locations have restaurants and tap rooms attached to them, if you’re in Brooklyn, then the Whole Foods Market location on Bedford Avenue is one worth going out of your way to visit. Specifically, we recommend that you check out N4, a restaurant and tap room located on its lower level — because they offer vegan milkshakes! Customers can choose from three vegan milkshake options: vegan banana nut, vegan dark chocolate, or vegan salted caramel. All milkshakes are made with ice cream with vegan Van Leeuwen Artisan Ice Cream, an ice cream shop with several locations across the city. Make the milkshake boozy by making a request with the bartender.
Try all three boozy vegan milkshakes at N4!
The fun doesn’t stop with vegan boozy milkshakes at N4, though. Their menu also features the Beyond Burger and veggie dogs. So, you can turn your grocery shopping trip into a delicious vegan meal. Not all Whole Foods have restaurants and tap rooms attached. To find out which ones feature unique menu items like plant-based burgers and vegan milkshakes, give your local Whole Foods Market a call.
Make Your Own Boozy Ice Cream at Home
If you don’t live near a restaurant offering vegan boozy milkshakes, you can make one at a home instead! You only need a few ingredients and some creative recipes from the Food Monster App to enjoy these boozy desserts.
1. Mudslide Ice Cream
Inspired by the classic cocktail, this Mud Slide Ice Cream recipe by Laura Ryan is rich, chocolatey, and boozy with a hint of coffee. Throw it in a blender with some almond milk and you’ve got yourself a frozen mudslide. Plus this recipe only has six ingredients. Boozy ice cream with only six ingredients?!? Yes, please.
2. Drunken Cherry Coconut Ice Cream
This Drunk Cherry Coconut Ice Cream recipe by Kristin Hoffman is a cocktail and a dessert all-in-one! What’s not to love? This is not an “alternative” ice cream. It just happens to be vegan and refined sugar-free. However, those picky eaters will never know unless you tell them. The healthy fat of the coconut milk gives this dairy-free ice cream an amazingly creamy and rich texture. The bit of alcohol left over from soaking the cherries keeps it a nice soft serve so it is always easy to scoop.
3. Hand-Churned Bourbon Salted Caramel Apple Ice Cream
You don’t need an ice cream maker to whip up this Hand-Churned Bourbon Salted Caramel Apple Ice Cream recipe by Emma D’Alessandro! This dessert features salted caramel and apple bourbon sauce swirled generously into a base of hand-churned vanilla ice cream.
The fun doesn’t have to end with these three recipes. Pick from any of these vegan milkshake recipes, add your choice of booze, and you can create your own boozy vegan milkshake at home.
We also highly recommend downloading our Food Monster App, which is available for both Android and iPhone, and can also be found on Instagram and Facebook. The app has more than 8,000 plant-based, allergy-friendly recipes, and subscribers gain access to ten new recipes per day. Check it out!
