Starbucks is officially testing out its own recipe for a vegan whipped cream using lentils! As of right now, the popular coffee shop is only offering the vegan whipped cream option in two Seattle locations.

This is exciting news for vegans in the US since there is already a vegan pumpkin spice latte with vegan whipped cream available in the UK. US customers are hoping that US locations will catch on to the increase in plant-based products at European Starbucks locations.

The chain recently released a vegetarian sandwich and started offering oat milk. Starbucks also hinted that they are testing new vegan options in an attempt to keep up with the consumer’s demands for more plant-based foods. Because they offer so many milk alternatives, many Starbucks drinks can be customized to be vegan-friendly. In fact, the addition of oat milk was so popular that Starbucks experienced oat milk shortages.

A Starbucks spokesperson said, “Building on Starbucks sustainability commitment, the company’s goal is to expand plant-based choices as an environmentally friendly menu contributes to our goal to be a resource positive company.”

If the addition of lentil whipped cream is popular in the Seattle locations, hopefully, the chain will add the menu option to all of their US locations for their vegan fans!
