The availability of allergy-friendly food is definitely growing! Working around food allergies on a plant-based diet can be tricky, and even more difficult when it comes to baking. However, many companies are starting to create products and production facilities that are allergy-friendly.
Safe + Fair is one of these companies creating allergy-friendly products, and they just launched a line of new vegan, allergy-free baking mixes that are available in three flavors: Double Chocolate Brownie, Birthday Cake, and Red Velvet. These baking mixes are free from the top eight allergens: gluten, soy, fish, nuts, tree nuts, milk, shellfish and eggs. This means you can enjoy baking from home without the hassle of hunting down gluten-free flours and special ingredients. It’s currently available online in the US in 20.6oz bags for $4.99.
The baking mix base is a blend of different gluten-free flours with naturally-colored sprinkles and chocolate chips that are both dairy and soy free. The CEO of Fair + Safe, Will Holsoworth, states: “Creating your own recipe requires a long list of ingredients and steps, and many of the current top eight-free mixes are grainy, dry and fall apart easily. We created these mixes not only to satisfy both food allergy sufferers and sweet-lovers alike, but to bring convenient and versatile products to families across the country.”
Safe + Fair was founded by two friends Dave Leyrer and Pete Najarian. Their inspiration to create these products stemmed from their own family’s struggle to find allergy-friendly foods for their children. The company also launched a line of pea protein chips and a range of popcorn quinoa chips.
