The pouches, snacks, and meals are all entirely plant-based and nutrient-dense. Delivering on Gerber’s Climate Forward Nutrition commitment signed back in 2021, the new line is also certified carbon neutral by the Carbon Trust.
As the new generation of parents is more climate-conscious than ever, the baby food giant is finally making food to align with the values of customers. According to the FMI’s 2019 U.S. Grocery Shopper Trends report, 81 percent of households with children include plant-based protein in meals, while 40 percent of parents with children under 18 are including more plant-based foods in their family’s meals.
Plant-tastic offers plant-based nutrition with recipes including beans, whole grains, and vegetables. The Plant-tastic line includes eight products ranging from Plant-tastic pouches, harvest bowls, and even crunchy snacks.
The pouches include Southwestern Fiesta Fruit & Veggie Bean Smash with Ancient Grains, Summer Fruit & Veggie Smash with Oats, Banana Berry & Veggie Smash with Oats, and Sweet Potato Cherry Smash with Oats. For delicious and nutritious Harvest Bowls, try Mediterranean Style Medley Veggies and Ancient Grain in Sauce or Vegan Mac With Creamy Veggie Sauce. And for a quick and easy on-the-go snack try the Lil’ Crunchies White Bean Hummus or PlantsYUM! Hearts-Lentil Banana Carrot and Raspberry.
“We hear from parents they want more plant-based protein options that align with their food and climate values,” said Gerber President and CEO Tarun Malkani. “Gerber Plant-tastic offers stage-based nutrition across milestones starting with organic toddler pouches, snacks, and meals. We are proud the full range of Plant-tastic products is certified carbon neutral, furthering our commitment to climate forward nutrition.”

The Plant-tastic line also follows the new dietary guidelines for young children which recommend legumes as part of a healthy diet for children under 2 years. Each Plant-tastic recipe is made with beans including chickpeas, black beans, navy beans, and lentils. Some of the recipes also include whole grain millet, quinoa, oat, spinach, peppers, cherries, berries, and more!
“Many parents of my patients incorporate plant-based options in their own diet and are looking to feed their baby in line with their own food values. For parents looking to incorporate plant-based choices, I advise ‘feeding baby the rainbow’ from a variety of foods (whole grains, fruits, veggies, meats, fish, legumes, etc.),” said Gerber Pediatric Consultant Dr. Whitney Casares. “Gerber Plant-tastic foods are made with beans, whole grains and veggies – which are packed with nutrients such as protein and fiber to Support baby’s healthy development.”
In summer 2021, Gerber became the first U.S. baby food company to announce a commitment to carbon-neutral food with the unveiling of their Plant-tastic line. Gerber committed to 100 percent carbon neutral across all of their baby food by 2035 in collaboration with Carbon Trust.
