Every year, Pinterest releases its Pinterest 100 report which includes the top 100 trends to anticipate for 2018. From food, style, to beauty, Pinterest covers it all. We here at One Green Planet are most excited for a few of Pinterest’s food-related predications for the new year. Since food and drink is one of Pinterest’s largest categories including more than 19 billion ideas, the site is constantly looking for ways to provide more recipes so that its readers can meal prep, create tasty dishes, and get more creative in the kitchen.

Here’s a preview of what you can expect to see more of in 2018 according to Pinterest’s global data along with some recipes from the Food Monster App so you can take advantage of these trends now!

Prepare to start drinking your coffee with more than just plant-based milks and sugar. In 2018, find ways to enhance your coffee with superfoods from maca to protein powders. These will add an extra boost to your caffeinated drink to help you power through your day. You don’t have to stop with your coffee, either. Transform some of your everyday meals with a few new spices! North African spices are expected to take over in the new year. From cumin, to coriander, to cardamom, there are plenty of ways to make your dishes more flavorful with a few spices and the right recipes. Pinterest predicts that will be a trend that picks up in 2018 with consumers ditching eggs and dairy products in their sweet treats.
