On July 13, Beyond Meat and Panda Express teamed up to announce a new offering on some Panda Express menus: Beyond™ The Original Orange Chicken™. The dish features Beyond Chicken coated in Panda Express’ classic The Original Orange Chicken® sauce.
According to CBNBC, Beyond™ The Original Orange Chicken™ will be available for a limited time starting July 26 at certain Panda Express locations in New York and Southern California. You can find out which locations here.
Panda Express does not currently have many plant-based options and thus, this partnership with Beyond Meat is a large step forward for the restaurant franchise. Hopefully, it is also indicative of future changes to the menu.
According to Tech Crunch, Panda Express chef Jimmy Wang, commented, “Beyond The Original Orange Chicken is the next step in the brand’s journey to offer more diverse and plant-based options, while still delivering comfort and crave-ability in innovative ways.” He continued, “Creating a fresh new take on a classic favorite is a great and accessible way to introduce plant-based proteins to our guests and perhaps even drawing a new audience for Panda.”
In a recent release, Beyond Meat called the new dish “a satisfying option that is just as crave-able as the original that fans know and love, but now made with the added benefits of plant-based meat.”
