This summer, New York City is set to make food history with the introduction of its very first Vegan Night Market. Curated by MHG Events, the group behind the popular Uptown, Brooklyn, and Bronx Night Markets, this green gastronomic gathering will be held every Tuesday evening at Central Park’s Wollman Rink from June 6 to October 10.

From 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., a diverse collection of vegan vendors will offer a smorgasbord of deliciously guilt-free food and drink options, each meticulously selected based on their menu offerings, business ethics, and of course, the tantalizing taste of their plant-based delights. Entry to the Vegan Night Market is completely free, with prices for individual food and drink items ranging between $5 and $15.

New York City’s rich cultural mosaic is mirrored in the variety of vegan cuisine on offer. From Caribbean to Colombian, Chinese to Mexican, and American to a broad selection of women-owned options, there’s something for everyone – whether you’re a dedicated vegan or just curious about what plant-based food has to offer.

This year’s vendor lineup includes some of the city’s top vegan culinary curators, such as The GingerShot Man, Mao’s Bao, Secret Vegan Kitchen, Pinche Vegana NYC, Lillie Handmade Aromatherapy Products, and Sip & Savor BX, to name a few. These businesses reflect the diversity of New York City, with around 70 percent owned by people of color and 50 percent by women.

Sip & Savor, for instance, is thrilled to share their non-alcoholic beverage collection influenced by Anguillan, Antiguan, and Aruban cultures. Similarly, Nadas Colombian Rainbow Empanadas, another participating vendor, is eager to bring the authentic flavor of their vegan empanadas to the masses.

Marco Shalma, the founder of MHG Events, envisions the Vegan Night Market as a platform for people to dip their toes into the world of plant-based cuisine, promoting sustainable and ethical food choices in the process.

While vegan diets have numerous health benefits, including higher fiber intake and an abundance of essential vitamins and minerals, it’s crucial to make well-informed dietary choices to ensure all nutritional needs are met. New York City already boasts a thriving vegan scene, and with the rising popularity of plant-based diets, the timing and location of this vegan extravaganza couldn’t be more perfect.
