The Houston Chronicle is reporting that Taco Bell will be rolling out plant-based options within a year. The company has a new CEO who is reversing the previous policy to push it’s own vegetarian options to consumers.

CEO Mark King said of the plant-based menu options, “We definitely see that plant-based protein has a place on the menu.” He has already met with Impossible Foods and Beyond Meat to explore different options for Taco Bell. “I tried all the food which was really exciting, and way beyond my expectation,” said King.

Plant-based options continue to grow in the United States and the United Kingdom. Taco Bell sister brand KFC recently began testing vegan fried chicken in select markets. Fast food competitor Chipotle recently announced they were working on their own inhouse plant-based menu choices. The Impossible Burger is now available at places like Red Robin and Burger King. Panera recently announced it would increase plant-based offerings. And White Castle debuted a vegan cheese in February.
