Trilly Cheesesteaks, a New Orleans sandwich shop that was previously a mobile pop-up, has opened a permanent location in the Mid-City neighborhood.
The shop sells a vegan version of every meat sandwich on its menu, swapping the meat for seitan, according to Eater New Orleans.
The menu includes a Vegan Philly with seitan steak and vegan cheddar sauce, a Vegan Far East, with seitan steak, sweet ginger soy sauce, fried onions, and vegan cream cheese, a Vegan BBQ with seitan chicken, BBQ sauce, and vegan cheddar sauce, and others. Diners can also opt to order their sandwich in a “Nature Boy” style without bread and with added peppers and onions.
“Came across them at Courtyard Brewery over the weekend and was so glad to see vegan options. I ordered two of the vegan cheesesteaks,” said Yelp reviewer Hannah S. “The wait was quite long (about 25 minutes) but they were busy. I would say it was worth it! We absolutely loved the cheesesteaks. My husband loves a good one and has missed them since we’ve been eating vegan. Definitely impressed and will miss them in Houston.”
The restaurant is currently open from 5 p.m. to midnight daily, but will extend its hours soon, Gambit reports.
Trilly Cheesesteaks is located at 4413 Banks Street in New Orleans.
