October 16th is a day when people all around the world come together to help fight hunger and commit to eradicate hunger in our lifetime. World Food Day was established in 1979 and is observed in almost every country on the planet! The date marks the creation of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations in Canada in 1945.
Every year, people come together to raise awareness and engage others in the movement to end hunger. There are grassroots events, hunger walks, World Food Day dinners and food drives.
