What’s wrong with wanting a little less refined sugar in your life? Absolutely nothing! And our users definitely loved these three, refined sugar-free recipes from the Food Monster App in the month of May!

This Caramel Sauce by Nele Liivlaid caught our eye as soon as we came across it. It is a deliciously creamy, homemade sweet sauce with no added refined sugar! Plus, with only six ingredients, how could you go wrong?


Tiana HainesMatcha Green Tea and Mint Cheesecake also showed up on our radar for the month of May and it also happens to be refined sugar-free!

This 3-Ingredient Chocolate Hazelnut Ice Cream by Jodi Burke is so perfect for summer (and contains no refined sugar)! All you need are some frozen bananas and some flavorful add-ins for the perfect cool treat!


2. SaffronMango Shrikhand Cheesecake

Yogurt Saffron Mango Cheesecake / One Green Planet

Saffron can be pricey, but there’s a reason our users liked it so much this May! It has a deep and rich flavor that adds a depth to light spring dishes.

Mira Manek caught our attention with her Yogurt Saffron Mango Cheesecake recipe this month! This vibrant recipe showcases the delicious, cooling flavors of yogurt and mango brought out by the added saffron.

These Persian Saffron Rice Cakes by Paris Marash also made a splash on the Food Monster App this month! These little bites of joy are flavored with salt, pepper, and saffron. Simple and just enough flavor to go around!

3. ZucchiniRaw Vegan Lasagna

Zucchini is in season so it’s no wonder people are buzzing about it right now! Zucchini is a flavorful, low-calorie, low-carb veggie that is affordable and so refreshing –– what’s not to love?


To start, Amanda Smith showed us how to replace pasta with zucchini in her Zucchini Basil Pesto Lasagna that is raw, gluten-free, and fully vegan! It’s no wonder this recipe showed up on our radar this month!

We loved Tiana HainesRaw Chocolate Zucchini Bites recipe too! She expertly sneaks raw zucchini into her snack bites for an extra refreshing bite!

This Fudgy and Decadent Chocolate Avocado Zucchini Cake makes our hearts sing because it sneaks in both avocado and zucchini into a delicious chocolate cake! Angela de Varennes is a genius for adding in zucchini and avocado in place of oil and butter!

4. Vegan Cheeseherbed cashew cheese

Herbed Cashew Cheese / One Green Planet

Judy Moosmueller‘s Herbed Cashew Cheese was right at the top of our trending recipe radar in May. Between the fact that it only contains 7-ingredients and how delicious it is – we knew this recipe was a hit as soon as we saw it!

Maya Sozer‘s Creamy Spreadable Pesto Cheese also was a fan favorite this month! Who wouldn’t want a creamy, cheesy, spread on their sandwiches all week?

This two-in-one Sliceable Zucchini Cheese and Spreadable Tomato Nacho Cheese recipe by Lena Ksanti also made our list this month for our favorite recipes of May! Make both of these in one go for cheese all week!

5. Indian FoodOnion Capsicula Masala

Kushi had an excellent Indian dish that really caught our and our users’ attention this month. We highly recommend checking out her Onion and Pepper Masala!

Alenoosh Matakupan also had an amazing, warming dish called Toor Dal With Cumin that was on our radar this month! This dish is loaded with protein and strong, warming flavors!

After we found out that Amazon Predicts Vegan BBQ as a Trend for Summer 2018! and we knew barbecue would be a hit with our users! We also found out that Montreal’s Le Boucan Introduces New Veggie BBQ Menu this May! No doubt, May was just the month to re-introduce barbecue!

Barbecue season is upon us all so we weren’t surprised these BBQ Lentil Meatballs by Gina Hoskins showed up on our radar in the month of May!

To continue the trend, we found tons of tips from our bloggers and complied them into Blogger Tips: How to Make Homemade Chinese Food Taste Like Takeout! These tips range from how to replace eggs in your rice to how to make the perfect sauce!

In the recipe world, potatoes always dominate. They’re cheap, low in fat and calories, and like… just plain delicious!

What we love about potatoes is their versatility! We published 15 Hearty and Zesty Curried Potato Recipes! and also 10 Fluffy Potato Cakes That are Vegan! All the recipes are equally unique and delicious! The addition of potatoes makes them each extra filling and affordable!

This Skillet Potatoes With Chickpeas and Roasted Apples recipe by Florian Nouh made a splash this May! It is a brilliant way to have potatoes in a fresh, new way for spring! We also noticed these Oven-Baked Irish Potato Colcannon Cakes by Renee Press on our radar this month!
