You might not know it, but if you’re a fan of the ever-adored peanut butter and jelly sandwich, or find yourself reaching for a plant-based peanut butter cup from time to time, then 1895 is actually a very important year for you. Why? Becuase it marks the year that Dr. John Harvey Kellogg patented a process for creating peanut butter from raw peanuts — and to celebrate, the Powers that Be have deemed the entire month of November 1 as Peanut Butter Lovers Month.
We here at One Green Planet have a low-key obsession with the peanutty spread. Not only is peanut butter high in potassium, magnesium, folate, vitamin E, antioxidants, and fiber, but it’s beneficial to heart health, colon cancer, Alzheimer’s disease, gallstones, and diabetes. Peanut butter is also filled with healthy fats and plenty of plant-based fuel.
In order to properly celebrate National Peanut Butter Lovers Month, we’ve put together 15 recipes from the Food Monster App. Eat them for breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, or all four — we won’t judge.
