Opened in 1976, Perelandra is located at 175 Remsen Street in Brooklyn. The kitchen and juice bar, opening April 9, will include a plant-based menu with 95 percent certified organic ingredients.
The new addition will include a hot bar buffet, a sandwich counter, a kiosk for prepared meals, and a case for baked goods and pastries including treats like root vegetable muffins.
“This is the first major renovation Perelandra has done in close to 20 years,” said the store’s co-owner Allison Buckingham. “And we are so excited to bring an even bigger array of delicious, high-quality, organic foods to Brooklyn Heights.”
Here are some of the vegan menu items at Perelandra along with recipes you can make even if you’re not in Brooklyn.
Perelandra offers a Tofu Reuben with oven-roasted tofu and cashew mozzarella on toasted rye bread, a Promenade Bagel with housemade cashew cream cheese and balsamic tomato relish, and a Smoky Pulled Jackfruit sandwich with cashew queso and red cabbage avocado slaw.
Perelandra’s hot bar includes dishes like a Hoppin’ John with cauliflower ‘rice,’ a Chickpea-Vegetable Frittata, and Spicy Adobo Tempeh with Peppers and Onions.
The kitchen & juice bar’s baked goods and pastry case has fresh pastries daily with goodies like root vegetable muffins, zucchini bread, and black bean brownies!
