When Greggs launched their vegan sausage roll in early 2019, it took the world by storm. All anyone could talk about for a while were the “realistic” and “tasty” vegan sausage rolls. It helped that they were also affordable. The rolls were such a success that it gave the company a massive profit boom. It also led to the launch of more vegan items, including hot cross buns right before Easter. But Greggs wasn’t the only company taking note of just how much people loved those vegan sausage rolls.
Birds Eye, which in the U.S. is mostly recognized for their frozen veggies, has launched their vegan sausage roll in the UK.

Today, Friday, June 5th is actually National Sausage Roll Day in the UK so it’s perfect timing! According to Mirror: “The four-pack of Birds Eye’s Meat Free Sausage Rolls is currently priced at just £1.50 or 38p per sausage roll in Sainsbury’s – a saving of 63% per sausage roll compared with high street competitors. The RRP of these delights is usually £2.50 so get your hands on this bargain whilst you can.”
The rolls can be cooked frozen in just 15-20 minutes. The rolls are also free of artificial colors, flavors, and preservatives. The filling is made with pea protein, making it high in protein, iron, and fiber.
The sausage rolls are a part of Birds Eye’s Green Cuisine line which is meatless and includes new meat-free chicken pies as well.
