Pizza Hut announced that Beyond Sausage will be added to its menu at five locations across Puerto Rico starting August 10.

The new plant-based topping will be featured on two limited-edition pizzas: Beyond Sausage and Beyond Sausage Veggie. Pizza Hut is the first international pizza chain in Puerto Rico to offer a plant-based meat topping.

Yum Holdings, the parent company for Pizza Hut, has already successfully added Beyond Meat to its menus at Pizza Huts, KFCs and Taco Bells in China.

“We’re excited to take this next step in our partnership with Yum! Brands to offer a plant-based sausage option at an iconic brand like Pizza Hut in Puerto Rico,” said Chuck Muth, Chief Growth Officer at Beyond Meat. “Following successful tests with KFC in the US and China, we’re proud to partner with Pizza Hut in Puerto Rico to introduce local consumers to the delicious taste of Beyond Meat, and further our goal of increasing accessibility to plant-based meat globally.”

This announcement comes as Beyond Meat has been expanding into fast-food chains around the U.S. After successful trials in Atlanta, Nashville, and Charlotte, KFC and Beyond Meat launched its plant-based fried chicken in about 50 locations in Southern California.

After a successful trial, it likely that further rollouts of Beyond Meat may occur at Pizza Huts nationwide or internationally.
