Rice is a classic comfort food! It’s affordable, versatile, and common in countless cultures and cuisines. However, some people may want to reduce their rice consumption because they want to eat less carbs, the arsenic in rice, or whatever other reason. That’s where Banza’s new product comes in. Banza is known for their gluten-free pasta made of chickpeas, and now they want to attempt to replace another kitchen staple with their chickpea rice.

Like their pasta, the new Banza rice is made with chickpeas and according to Banza has “more of a bite” than cauliflower rice. They also said it contains “three times as much protein, twice as much fiber and 30% fewer net carbs than brown rice, so it can provide a better-for-you substitute for regular rice, quinoa and other grains.” The chickpea rice will be available at Whole Foods stores nationwide in two varieties: rice made from chickpeas and tricolor rice made of legumes.
