Food holidays are the best, and one of the most popular of course is National Pizza Day. Vegan pizza is especially delicious and creative, with various types of crusts, sauces, and toppings to choose from. Also, there are many ways to make it from scratch!

To celebrate this wonderful day, we put together 10 of our most creative, homemade pizza recipes from the Food Monster App!

Who ever knew that beets could make the perfect substitute for pepperoni? When you think about it, they’re the perfect shape and size! Beets are marinated in a smoky, spicy sauce and then fried until crispy. They go perfectly with the crust and tomato sauce in Alicja Rokicka‘s Beet ‘Pepperoni’ Pizza recipe, but feel free to use your favorites — after all, pizza is a personal affair.

This yeast-free and gluten-free flatbread crust comes together very easily and then is topped with cashew cream cheese, mushrooms, arugula. Dana Sterling‘s Mediterranean Chickpea Socca Pizza is a slice above the rest. The chickpea crust is baked in the oven before being topped with fresh vegetables, covered in vegan parmesan, and then crisped up in the oven. It’s time to have a pizza party.
