Here at One Green Planet, we work hard to write about all the amazing work being done by compassionate people at animal sanctuaries. However, as Jonathan Balcombe eloquently put it in a recent article, if a picture is worth a thousand words, then a video is worth a thousand pictures.

This video shows an orphaned short-tailed fruit bat named “Lil’ Drac” who was rescued after a zoo closed and his mother abandoned him. He was hand-raised by Bat World Sanctuary volunteers and was nursed through tiny foam tips that he liked to hold in his mouth at all times. The video shows him being nursed back to health and learning how to fly.
