Woot woot! We’re so excited to share this news with you. One of our favorite vegan food trucks, The Cinnamon Snail, has claimed the crown for Best Food Truck in NYC! They won the 10th annual Vendy Cup.

The Vendy Awards is one of the most prestigious food truck awards, the creme de la creme of awards, like the Oscars or the Emmys. In fact, Mario Batali once called it “the Oscars of food for the real New York.”

The awards function as a fundraiser organized by the Street Vendor Project, which is a membership-based non-profit organization that stands up for vendors’ rights.

The awards celebration took place this past weekend on Governor’s Island, where more than 40 food trucks competed. Imagine food truck samples galore: Cinnamon Snail served mouth-watering samples, including their spicy Korean vegan tacos and crème brûlée doughnuts. Though other awards were doled out at the ceremony, The Vendy Cup is the event’s main prize. In previous Vendy Awards seasons, The Cinnamon Snail was a finalist in 2013, received the People’s Choice award in 2012, and won the Marker’s Mark Challenge in 2011.

The Cinnamon Snail, based in the NYC area, is not like the other food trucks on the block. On countless occasions, we’ve witnessed the line for this truck snake across a full avenue during the Manhattan lunch rush – not an uncommon occurrence. You pretty much have to plan to stand in line if you want those delectable vegan noms. So it makes sense why they’ve taken the prize.

The creations from The Cinnamon Snail are so popular because it is straight up delicious. In fact, many people seek it out not for the vegan aspect, but because it’s dang good food. Even the carnivores in our lives agree!
