Following the horrific killing of a Pomeranian named Fox in Pembroke Pines, Fla., last Friday, a reward of $3,000 has been offered for any information leading to the arrest of the culprits.
Thirteen-year-old Fox’s body was found outside his guardians’ condominium on a Saturday morning, with a cruel note attached to him that read, “we beat him 2 death lol HAHAHA!” Veterinarian Dr. Don Ridge said that Fox suffered 10 broken ribs, several missing teeth, a ruptured stomach, and a broken back in the assault: “If the note was indeed true, somebody really meant to kill that dog. To be hit with a stick you’d have angular injuries. The injuries were on the flat side of the body.”
Heartbroken guardians Ronald Boisvert and Varline Bartheleny are urgently appealing for information about the assault, and have posted flyers around their community asking for anyone who might know something to come forward. It is believed that the attackers were residents of the local area, with prior knowledge of Fox and his family, because Fox was not wearing a collar which would have given his address, yet was returned to his front door.
Boisvert said, “Nobody should have to go through this,” while Bartheleny described Fox’s death as “just horrifying. I just started crying. … Fox was like one of my kids. I’ve had him for a long time. It hurts.”
Anyone with information about the assault is encouraged to contact Broward County Crimestoppers at 954-493-TIPS. Let’s hope the people who did this to such a sweet, gentle old dog are found and brought to justice!
Rest in peace, beautiful boy.
